How it fits
Your products.Your store.Your cart.BuytheWay on top.
BuytheWay is an ecommerce experience layer. It presents catalogue products in a shoppable vertical feed and, where integrated, hands product and variant choices to the brand’s existing commerce flow. The exact connection depends on the catalogue, cart interface and store architecture in use.
Inspect the flow

The integrated path
From source to store and back to the store.
The experience can sit above the commerce flow without pretending the commerce beneath it has disappeared.
- 01
Source
Catalogue and product data
Product imagery and available facts originate with the brand’s catalogue or connected product source. The exact fields and update method must be defined for that store; BuytheWay does not assume one universal schema.
- 02
Experience
BuytheWay vertical feed
BuytheWay arranges catalogue products as a vertical sequence. The shopper can scroll, inspect details, save and share without BuytheWay inventing new product facts.
- 03
Choice
Product and variant
When a product requires a size or another variant, the shopper makes that choice before the add action. Availability and validation must follow the connected store’s current commerce rules.
- 04
Handoff
Host cart
Where integrated, BuytheWay passes the selected item into the brand’s existing cart flow. The handoff method depends on the host store; no product should be shown as added until that action succeeds.
- 05
Commerce
Host checkout
The store keeps its checkout and order flow. BuytheWay does not need to become a second checkout or merchant of record merely to provide the reel experience.
When something does not work
Keep the failure local. Keep the shopper oriented.
Trust is clearest when the interface says what happened, does not claim a success that did not occur and gives the shopper a proportionate next step.
- Media cannot load
- Keep the product context visible and offer a retry. A failed image should not reset the shopper’s place in the feed.
- A save does not complete
- Say that nothing was saved and allow another attempt. Do not display a false saved state.
- An item is unavailable
- Do not add it. Keep the shopper in context and provide a clear way to check again or continue.
- The cart handoff fails
- Confirm that no item was added and no order was placed, preserve the browsing state, and make retry possible when appropriate.
The working demo makes save, availability and add-to-bag failures explicit. Media-load recovery and final stock, cart and checkout behaviour belong to a production integration and must be verified with the host store.
The boundary
Experience above. Commerce beneath.
BuytheWay changes how products are encountered. It does not, by definition, replace the entire ecommerce site, become a marketplace or take over the store’s checkout.
The public H&M experience is a demonstration with a local demo bag. It does not place a retailer order and does not imply H&M endorsement of BuytheWay.
Use the proof
The flow makes more sense in your hands.
Scroll the demonstration, choose a variant, try an add action and deliberately use a retry state. Then return here for the integration detail.
